The Masters
The Powell & Pressburger Pages

Dedicated to the work of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and all the other people, both actors and technicians who helped them make those wonderful films.

A lot of the documents have been sent to me or have come from other web sites. The name of the web site is given where known. If I have unintentionally included an image or document that is copyrighted or that I shouldn't have done then please email me and I'll remove it.

I make no money from this site, it's purely for the love of the films.

ACT Location Walk, Chilham, 30th August 2020

Twenty Powell Pressburger enthusiasts attended the 2020 gathering celebrating the ACT filming this year. We were very lucky with the weather and managed to make our way up to Julliberrie Down and The Roundel despite losing our way once or twice, (my fault - the undergrowth keeps on growing and moving around!), and then on to 'Chillingbourne' town.

This year we had a new playlet in the form of 'Gladwys Swinton' played by Sue Mason Saunders in full railway duty regalia complete with a cloth to work the signal levers when she returned to work after the 'five minutes'. We had a number of new actors and actresses who all did a sterling job and received well received applause. It amazes me how a native of Dartford can quickly revert in to a very convincing American accent.

There was a trip to School Lane but no game of catch as the ball was lost the year before last but we did have a very convincing Polly Finn and Alison in the square for the bus scene and lengthy discussion about Charing Street before some of us retired to the White Horse for a meal to be recommended.

In view of the cancellation last year I was very surprised we had so many attend and we missed some of our regulars too. Helen Lawson gave me plenty of support, (we couldn't do it without her could we?), and I am indebted also to Will Stevenson who kindly acted as our photographer.

I thought I might give it a rest next year but such was the enthusiasm of you good folks I will return and see you all in Fordwich in 2021 and try to insert some new playlets. I mean it is Chillingbourne and not Chicago you know.
