Moy Castle is falling down!
By: Ian Court
Hi Steve
Last summer I visited Mull again and found Moy Castle wrapped in scaffolding. Evidently the reason we were not allowed up to the ramparts of Moy Castle in 2005 was that it really was about to fall down. The architect told me he was amazed it has lasted this long without repair and that one more storm would have torn one side of the Castle out and it could have then fallen down completely - Lost for ever.
Various Scottish organisations have rallied round and it was give a grant of approximately £380,000 for the first phase to stabilise the structure and prevent it falling on anyone passing by. This is now half done.
I have been in touch Jim Corbett who owns Moy Castle and the Mull Historical & Archaeological Society and many others and have come up with a website www.Moycastle.com to raise money for the second and third phases to save Moy Castle.
Would you help and pass on this plight to other who might contribute to save Moy Castle?
Kind regards
Ian Court
