The Queen's Guards (1961)
Kinematrograph Weekly
Thursday, June 16th, 1960
Michael Powell continued collecting material for The Queen's Guards, his new feature for Twentieth Century-Fox, when he installed nine Technirama cameras to cover every aspect of the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday (June 11th, 1960). Already, many scenes from the film have been shot in Technirama in England and Libya during the recent air-lift of the Brigade of Guards to North Africa. The trooping ceremony will provide a background for an ingeniously worked out story which will reveal the guards not merely as a highly trained ceremonial brigade, but as one of the toughest and hardest-hitting fighting forces in the world.
