Dedicated to the work of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and all the other people, both actors and technicians who helped them make those wonderful films. A lot of the documents have been sent to me or have come from other web sites. The name of the web site is given where known. The Elusive Pimpernel
Capsule by Dave Kehr
From the Chicago Reader
There just isn't as much going on here as in Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's other films, but it's a breezy, entertaining piece with P & P's customary stylistic cheekiness. David Niven is the swashbuckling hero; disguised as a feckless dandy, he spirits deserving aristocrats out of revolutionary France. With Margaret Leighton, Cyril Cusack, and Jack Hawkins; the highly charged Technicolor cinematography is the work of Christopher Challis (1950).
