The Masters
The Powell & Pressburger Pages

Dedicated to the work of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and all the other people, both actors and technicians who helped them make those wonderful films.

A lot of the documents have been sent to me or have come from other web sites. The name of the web site is given where known. If I have unintentionally included an image or document that is copyrighted or that I shouldn't have done then please email me and I'll remove it.

I make no money from this site, it's purely for the love of the films.

[Any comments are by me (Steve Crook) and other members of the email list]

Powell & Pressburger - Frequently Asked Questions

4. Campaigns

If possible I would like to get the following campaigns under way

  • English Heritage Blue Plaques for Michael & Emeric

Plans are afoot to get one for Emeric in 2002 when he becomes eligible under the '100 years since they were born' rule. Micky becomes eligible under the same rule in 2005.

Since done see the report on the great day

  • Meetings and/or interviews with any surviving people who worked with P&P

Those already met include Jack Cardiff, Kathleen Byron, Columba Powell, Thelma Schoonmaker-Powell, Sheila Sim, John Sweet, many of the children from ACT and a few others.

EMail contact has been made with Kevin Macdonald (Emeric's grandson) and Kevin Powell (Micky's elder son).

  • Another full P&P retrospective in 2000 to coincide with the publication of 3 new books

Well we've had a mini-season at the NFT in March 2000
    See BFI pages

Paul Tritton's new book on A Canterbury Tale, Ian Christie's new book on A Matter of Life and Death and Pam Cook's new book on I Know Where I'm Going!.
