Archers Stamps
Patrick Boner saw an article about Hollywood film directors saluted on US stamps and thought it would be a nice idea to have the best of British film-makers celebrated on some British stamps.
It will be the 75th anniversary of the formation of The Archers in 2017. That gives us a bit of time to plan a campaign and to get a few influential friends on side.
So the first thing to do is to find out how they decide on who to honour on the stamps. Patrick found out about the Stamp Advisory Committee and an area on the Royal Mail site describing how the selection process works.
The Royal Mail say that they are looking for people or things that "commemorate, among other things, important anniversaries and events of national importance, celebrate the British contribution to the world and reflect the many and varied aspects of the British way of life". I think that The Archers tick all of those boxes.
The Royal Mail also say that they get hundreds of requests for a special set of stamps each year and they then select 10 or so from those hundreds. We can beat those odds.
