The Masters
The Powell & Pressburger Pages

Dedicated to the work of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and all the other people, both actors and technicians who helped them make those wonderful films.

A lot of the documents have been sent to me or have come from other web sites. The name of the web site is given where known. If I have unintentionally included an image or document that is copyrighted or that I shouldn't have done then please email me and I'll remove it.

I make no money from this site, it's purely for the love of the films.

How it all got started
Shropshire, May 2002

After Nick & I went on our GTE location tour in November 2001, I made the suggestion that it'd be nice to show the film in the area where it was made and maybe advertise it in the local press and try to get as many of the local people who were extras along. Or even just anyone who had any stories to tell about the making of the film.

Soon after we got back, by pure coincidence, I was contacted by a man from an organisation called Flicks in the Sticks that tours around country villages with no cinemas to show films. He said how he was interested in showing GTE in Much Wenlock. I had also suggested that we should do something to the Mary Webb Society so I put them in contact with each other and the result was that the film was shown on Sunday May 26th 2002 at Much Wenlock.

There were two screenings & it was seen by about 250 people, including lots who were extras in it.
