The Masters
The Powell & Pressburger Pages

Dedicated to the work of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and all the other people, both actors and technicians who helped them make those wonderful films.

A lot of the documents have been sent to me or have come from other web sites. The name of the web site is given where known. If I have unintentionally included an image or document that is copyrighted or that I shouldn't have done then please email me and I'll remove it.

I make no money from this site, it's purely for the love of the films.

[Any comments are by me (Steve Crook) and other members of the email list]

A Canterbury Tale
By: Roger Mellor

Just received my copy today, and what an excellent production it is!

With HUNDREDS of Black and White photographs (photos on every page) The stills from ACT are very high quality - beautiful reproduction.....

All PnP list members must have this book !

Even if you have never seen ACT, the book will make you want to see the movie, and many of the pictures and text are about MP's early years in East Kent, and the places associated with his early life, so all with any interest in MP would want this.....

This will be the definitive book on ACT, indeed the ONLY one

The layout of the book follows the structure of the movie, detailing where each scene was filmed, with commentary from those who took part (especially from John Sweet, Michael Powell)

The first chapter is a brilliant re-creation by Paul Tritton of the World Premiere of ACT at The Friars Cinema in Canterbury in 1944, full of local colour and detail....

Relive the creation of ACT with this book...

Perhaps Paul will share with us, any nice letters he receives about his book from those connected with the film, as well as celebrity readers [such as Lord Attenborough, Martin Scorsese] If you are a PnP fan, you will not regret this purchase!

Buy it!

Roger
